Unit 14 is concerned with the applications of fibrous structures, including nonwoven structures, in the construction industry and geosynthetics. Examples in the construction industry are studied such as roofing and tile underlay, thermal and noise insulation and house wrap. Geosynthetics are synthetic products used to stabilize terrain. The eight main product categories, such as, geotextiles, geogrids, geonets, geomembranes, geosynthetic clay liners, geofoam, geocells and geocomposites are considered.
